Guyer Opera House
The Guyer Opera House opened more than 115 years ago. It is named after Lewisville physician, Dr. Oscar K. Guyer. In 1893 there was a gas explosion that triggered a fire in the business district in Lewisville. Many buildings in downtown Lewisville were burned to the ground.
In 1900, Dr. Guyer persuaded a group of local citizens to build an Opera House.
It was built over a block of the city where the earlier buildings were destroyed. Dr. Guyer died March 1901 at the age of 49
